The American work environment is dog-eat-dog and very impersonal. Layoffs and firings are taken indifferently. They like to say that “It’s not personal it’s only business.” But at the end of the day we are all human beings so everything affecting us is personal. I admire the British way of looking at work. It’s much more humane.
