American society values money over everything else, doesn't believe in a strong public safety net, and is obsessed with individualism. This leads to great isolation which can make some people do inhumane things. If you watch shows like Dateline and American Greed you'll see how cold-blooded our country really is. No other industrialized nation seems to haves these depraved problems.
